Monograms Carolus:

(1) All letters inscribed normally.

(2) The letters C and R inscribed normally; the letter S inverted and the letter L inscribed normally.

The monogram shows a letter K in the shape of a letter C. It can also be a poorly executed letter K, but it is disturbing to find it only with the legend RX. In my opinion, there is a probability that the monogram shows a letter C. A coin from the Bourges mint, showing this same form of letter, is the only one to have a shorter obverse legend with REX R. If the we add RX FR instead of REX FR on the other coins of Agen, we can start to think that this is the first issue of this mint. I chose to note the monogram as "Carolus". Without certainty that it is a letter C, but this allows to differentiate these coins from the others which display a letter K well executed.
