Monograms Karolus:

(1) All letters inscribed normally.

(2) The letters K, R and L written normally, the letter S retrograde.

As I already noted for the Agen and Bourges mints, there is a monogram with the letter K resembling a C always associated with a shorter obverse legend. Again, does this indicate that these are the first strikes? Here, the letter K still seems to look like a K rather than a C, so I did not note the monogram as Carolus, but Karolus. However, doubt is allowed as to the nature of the first letter.
