Denarius, type 1, var 8
CARLVS REX FR (circular legend around a cross surrounded by a circle made up of dots, a cross between FR and CARLVS).
PAPIA (circular legend around the Carolus monogram (1) surrounded by a circle made up of dots, a cross between the letters A and P. One globule between the letter I and the letter A).
Another copy preserved at the Münzkabinett der Staatlichen Museen of Berlin, link to the page of their website showing the photo of the coin: http://www.smb-digital.de/eMuseumPlus?service=ExternalInterface&module=collection&objectId=2449042&viewType=detailView.
Monograms Carolus:
(1) Without dot at the top in the diamond on the middle.
(2) With dot at the top in the diamond on the middle.
This type 1, var 5 is uncertain, the globule between the letter I and the letter A being perhaps a die break. Its necessary to see another coin with an unmistakable globule to confirm this variant.
